Charity Newsies

Charity Newsies logo

“That no child shall be kept out of school for lack of adequate clothing.” This is the mission of the Charity Newsies, a unique non-profit organization founded in 1907. For more than 110 years, the Newsies have provided new winter coats and clothing — and more recently, school uniforms — to thousands of school children. This school year Charity Newsies clothed approximately 13,000 boys and girls in Franklin County. The Charity Newsies' members fund its activities privately through gifts, bequests and solicitations. After their Annual Gala and Silent Auction, hundreds of Newsies hit the streets the second Saturday in December, wearing their famous white coveralls to sell a special edition of The Columbus Dispatch to drive-by contributors — 100% of these donations go directly to the purchase of clothing. Let Me Run Columbus

Let Me Run Columbus logo

Let Me Run is a nonprofit wellness program that inspires boys to be themselves, be active, and belong. With a comprehensive curriculum that applies the power of running, the program encourages boys to develop their psychological, emotional and social health, in addition to their physical health. Twice a week for seven weeks, our trained coaches guide teams of six to fourteen boys (4th-8th grade) through the program, designed to amplify confidence, self-expression, and respect for others. Each fall and spring season culminates in a 5k race that celebrates the boys' emotional, social and physical growth.

Let Me Run Columbus has reach over 700 boys since coming to Central Ohio in 2014! Will you help reach more boys through the power of running by becoming a coach? Bring the gift of running and our evidence based curriculum to a school near you. We provide free training and supplies. Fall season registration opens late August, the season starts late September, and the season culminating 5k race is in November. It's never too early to think about making a difference in your community! Join the movement at LetMeRun.org or contact ClaireH@letmerun.org for more information.
